Charitable giving can be an important element of year-end tax and estate
planning, and your financial advisor can help you structure your gifts so they
benefit your charities as well as your overall financial plan. The Washington
Society of Professional Engineers Educational Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable
organization which means your donations are fully tax deductible (for donations
up to 50% of your taxable income). You may designate your gift to either the
“Scholarship” or the Endowment fund.
On the annual NSPE dues statement, you can designate the “Endowment” by checking
the “Educational Foundation” box. To designate a donation to the scholarship
fund, you check the “scholarship” box. These choice boxes for voluntary
contributions are found at the bottom of your annual NSPE membership dues form.
You may also make your contributions directly to the Washington Society of
Professional Engineers Educational Foundation by mailing your donation to F.

This article is intended to encourage each of you to make a financial
contribution to EVERgreen Watch in support of WSPE’s participation in the
Architect & Engineers Legislative Council (AELC). We need to raise approximately
$3,000 to $4,000 toward our continuing support of this legislative coalition
effort that we initiated back in the early 1970’s. AELC greatly heightens the
awareness of the A/E professions in the state legislature.
AELC is the component organization made up of the following organizations: ACEC
WA, WSPE, LSAW, ASCE, SEAW, IEEE, ASLA and AIA. AELC monitors all legislative
and regulatory bills introduced in the State Legislature that impact the
engineering profession. Without this vanguard organization, we would be subject
to the whims of any legislation being promulgated by special interest groups
such as the trial lawyers. Note that we have some major legislation coming up
this fall including a joint Sound Transit/RTID transportation funding package
involving approximately $15B over the next 20 years. If this legislation is
passed through the legislature, it will serve to significantly improve the
quality of life in the Puget Sound area and also be a boon to the economy.
WSPE’s interests involve such things as licensing, A/E selection (using QBS),
professional liability, government contracting out, taxes, infrastructure
funding, tort reform, liability reform and education. We have benefited greatly
over the last 30+ years by being a part of this highly visible, collaborative
organization of approximately 10,000 design professionals.
Please support this EVERgreen Watch with personal checks of $25, $50, $100, or
more if you can afford. Inasmuch as we do not generate enough money from WSPE
dues to support EVERgreen Watch, we really need your financial support! This
contribution is not tax deductible so you will need to check with your tax
advisors. Please send your donations to EVERgreen Watch, 4800 NW Francis Drive,
Silverdale, WA 98383. Thank you in advance for any personal contribution that
you make. If you have any general questions regarding the EVERgreen Watch,
please either contact Ken McGowan at 425.564.8400, extension 8411
